Who we are
The Scottish Karate Federation was founded on Thursday, 17th December 1970, by nine karate students. Two of these students are still active members of the SKF; Hamish Adam 9th Dan, who is our Honourary President, and Allan Spence 8th Dan, who is one of our Senior Senseis.
Originally, we were called the “Wado-Ryu Karate Committee (Scotland)”.
Today, the SKF is the largest and most successful Wado Karate association in Scotland. We are members of Karate Scotland, the only recognised Governing Body for Karate in Scotland.
We are a not-for-profit organisation. All of our funds go straight back into the Federation, where we are lucky to be in a position that we can help fund our clubs and athletes. Our Federation is run by elected volunteers.
Our affiliations include the Federation of Wado Kai Europe, the European Karate Federation, and the World Karate Federation.
